When i saw the images in Pieter Hugo's exhibition without knowing the context of the images i was unsure of what they meant to portray. Portraying life in 3rd world countries and the effects of war were two of the possibilities i considered. However when we were told that Hugo was showing images of Nollywood films this made more sense. Particularly with the images bellow.

Hi Robin,

This post seems very light. There are lots of ways you could have expanded on the context. The "before I knew" and "after I knew" is a good way of discussing what the work looks like, and what it is actually about, but you don't really go into the context of either. Talking about some of the political issues in Africa would have helped round out the Third World poverty and violence angle. And then discussing what Nollywood actually is, and maybe researching some of the facts about the industry, would help round out the second part.
