Self Portrait, Picasso, 1906

Picasso's self portrait is painted using oil on canvas mounted on wood. At that time in 1906, he was well into the Rose Period and was ready to create more unique and creative types of art. In the picture above, his eyes stand out extremely large thus it defines his attributes of his attitude which made a sense that he would attempt to discover his identity through his portraits.

Pablo Picasso's black period, also known as époque négre or negro period, refers to the years 1906 and 1907. Picasso falls under the influence of African art, on which he bases a series of drawings, paintings and woodcarvings that lead to the creation of his work above.

Hey Tepora,

Can you figure out why your images aren't coming up? Did you download them onto your hardrive first? Are they .jpg? It makes it hard to comment on your comments without seeing the original images. But in general I think your comments could go into a big more depth. For example, what was Picasso's Rose Period? And how does African influence come out in Les Demoiselles d'Avignon? And how would you describe Chagall's style?
