The Four Winds

Fresh Gallery Otara just like its name has been the first steps for up coming local Artist to play their part in the industry. Coming up to its fifth birthday the Gallery has show case many forms of Pacific and Maori Art contemporary and traditional reflecting and relating to its community.

The latest work at F.G.O. belongs to Leilani Kake called -The Four Winds-. This installation involves four video channels projected on the four walls of a dark room and on each wall the four stages of womanhood youth, pregnancy, motherhood and coming of age. Leilani is raising awareness though her work the issues of traditional religious belief within the female Polynesian culture is a barrier to the reality of disease –breast cancer and cervical smear- The issues is not the disease but the comfort in witch a Polynesian woman stands. Many P.I. woman have not been for their check and Leilani is showing them that its about the beauty of being a woman to its fullest.

According to my records your meant to be doing a comment for the gallery shows, and a post relating to Rebecca's lecture on vocabulary. Is this what you're doing because you didn't make it to the lecture?

It's an adequate entry but doesn't feel like you are pushing yourself, or that you are really engaged. It would be great to have your participation in class and that would show up in your blog entries.
